Expert Seminar at the Ministry of Energy “Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency – Key Areas of the Fourth Energy Package”
Today, 9.03.2018 the National Energy Chamber jointly with the Ministry of Energy held an expert seminar on key areas of the Fourth Energy Package – the Renewable Energy Directive, the Regulation Package and the Energy Efficiency Directive. The seminar was opened by Minister Temenuzhka Petkova, who emphasized that reaching a consensus on these topics is a priority for the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU. Deputy Minister Zhecho Stankov participated together with experts from the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works and the Sustainable Energy Development Agency, as well as members of the National Energy Chamber. The Lecturers Laszlo Szabo and Maria Bartek-Lesi of the Regional Center for Energy Policy Studies (REKK), Budapest presented comprehensive comparative data and analyzed current trends in the sector’s development at the EU level, focusing the discussion on the advantages and challenges for Bulgaria. They studied in detail the impact of energy policies and regulation across the EU countries and stressed their crucial role for the development of electricity markets, the levels of investments and prices.
The co-chairman of the Chamber, Robert Dick, said in his opening remarks that this seminar presents the Chamber’s conviction that the energy future of Bulgaria should be discussed using all the expert knowledge available and that the Chamber is ready to participate in such discussions and contribute to building a modern, long-term vision of Bulgaria’s energy and economy.
